Steven Baum
Partner – Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Baum graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.A. in Economics. Upon graduation, Mr. Baum worked as a financial analyst in the mergers and acquisitions department at Morgan Stanley & Co. From 1991 to 1993, Mr. Baum worked as a director of strategic planning and analysis at Sony Pictures Entertainment. In 1993, Mr. Baum left Sony to join Pacific Telesis Group, where he served as an executive director of broadband strategy and planning. Mr. Baum worked as an investment banker at Montgomery Securities from 1997 to 1999 and at Thomas Weisel Partners from 1999 to 2001. Most recently, Mr. Baum served in the role of managing partner at Pierce Street Capital Management, LLC, which he also co-founded. Mr. Baum joined Ivory Investment Management, L.P. in June 2006.
Craig Pollak
Partner – Head of Global Marketing
Mr. Pollak graduated with honors from Yale University with a B.A. in Economics in 1993 and received his J.D. cum laude from the New York University School of Law in 1998. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Pollak practiced corporate law at Cravath, Swaine and Moore in New York. From there, Mr. Pollak joined the Client Strategy Group of the Private Wealth Management Division of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter where he oversaw the firm’s 10b5-1 trading program. Mr. Pollak left Morgan Stanley in 2002 to join FrontPoint Partners LLC where, over the course of three years, he earned the title of Managing Director in the Client Advisory Group focusing on capital acquisition, investor relations and new product development. Most recently, Mr. Pollak served as Chief Executive Officer of Chapwood Capital. Mr. Pollak joined Ivory Investment Management, L.P. in February 2006.
Mitchell B. Pressman, CFA, CPA
Partner – Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Pressman graduated magna cum laude from the University of Miami with a B.B.A in accounting and finance. He then attended the University of
Texas at Austin where he received a Master’s degree in accounting. He began his career with Price Waterhouse and then worked for Arthur Andersen
as a financial consultant. Mr. Pressman then went to GPU Inc., and served in various financial roles, including Finance Director of the telecommunications
division. After GPU, he joined Ivory Investment Management, L.P. as Controller and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2002. In 2003, he joined
Triage Management, LP, a distressed and special situation hedge fund, as CFO and was in that capacity until February 2006. Mr. Pressman earned
his CPA in 1990 in Texas and was awarded the CFA designation in 1996. Mr. Pressman rejoined Ivory Investment Management, L.P. as Chief Financial
Officer in February 2006.
Barbara Burger
General Counsel
Ms. Burger graduated cum laude from the University of Dayton with a B.S. in Psychology. She received her J.D. from the St. John’s University School of Law. Ms. Burger was an Associate in the in the municipal finance department at Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon from 1985 to 1987, and then a Senior Associate in the corporate department at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, LLP from 1987 to 1996. Most recently, she served as Partner and General Counsel at DKR Capital (a multi-strategy asset management company), where she was responsible for all legal, compliance and corporate matters. Ms. Burger joined Ivory Investment Management, L.P. in July 2010.
Principal – Controller
Mr. Deshpande graduated cum laude from The College of New Jersey with a B.S. in Accountancy. Mr. Deshpande was a senior auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he specialized in mutual funds, alternative investment funds and AIMR Performance Verifications. Mr. Deshpande then served as the fund accounting controller at Colden Capital Advisers LLC. He joined FrontPoint Partners LLC as an accounting manager and was responsible for the accounting and reporting for certain funds managed by Ivory. Mr. Deshpande then became the assistant controller at Jefferies Asset Management LLC. Mr. Deshpande joined Ivory Investment Management, L.P. in March 2006.
Paul Petach
Principal – Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Petach attended Moorpark and Pierce colleges. From 1992 through 1995, Mr. Petach was employed as a Service Department Manager at Rantech Computer Systems. Following his tenure there, Mr. Petach joined Independent National Mortgage as a Client Service Help Desk Manager until 1997. He then served as a consultant for the communications network firm Vector Resources until joining Kayne Anderson Investment Management in 1998. While at Kayne Anderson, Mr. Petach served in the capacity of Information Technology Operations Manager. Mr. Petach began a consulting engagement with Ivory Investment Management, L.P. in March 2002 and joined Ivory full-time as CTO in July 2005.
